StoryCode Title Report

This feature is still in development. If you'd like to be kept informed, please Click here

This service allows editors or sales and marketing to code an unpublished title and receive a detailed comparison of the top matches from the StoryCode database.

The report breaks down the comparison into individual sections covering the key areas of the StoryCode coding process:

  • General Information
  • Story Resolution
  • Genre
  • Setting
  • Characters
  • Atmosphere
  • Plot
  • Age Rating
  • Plot Types
  • Audience
  • Morality
  • The unpublished title code will never appear in the main StoryCode database and will only be visible to anybody with the correct login details.

    How Does It Work?

When a story is coded on our site we store all the information submitted for each question asked as part of the process. Normally, we use all of the data and draw a single relevancy score based on the full “code”. For the purpose of this report, we take selected data from each subsection of the coding process and calculate a relevancy score based on the subsection data only. This allows a more detailed breakdown of the comparison between the manuscript and the top matches in our database. In addition we display the median match and the worst match.

Once the Manuscript has been coded for the first time, we have also developed the ability to edit the code from the original entry and see a revised report.

    Why Should I Want This?

We believe that this level of detailed analysis will assist the publishers in several ways:

    • A greater understanding of the similarity of the title with published novels allowing an additional source of data when choosing to purchase a submitted manuscript.
    • A detailed understanding of how, if desired, the novel maybe edited to affect the similarity or differences of the manuscript with the top matched titles.
    • An additional source of information for use when preparing sales and marketing materials and planning marketing campaigns

How Much Does The Report Cost?

The Report is in early stages of development and we fully expect that the report will evolve after significant interaction with real publishers. Consequently, we have kept the initial charges at a low level:
