We are developing two services for Booksellers and Wholesalers

• StoryCode Web Services
• StoryCode EPOS Service

StoryCode Web Services

This service allows other internet sites to dynamically pull live data from StoryCode regarding the top matches for a particular story. The data can be integrated into your site to provide links to your purchase process or other pages of the site.

How Does it Work?

The data is currently provided in an XML format, click here to see sample output A SOAP interface is in development and will be available during Summer 2006.

Each query is specific to a unique ISBN and delivers XML output for each StoryCode Match with the following characteristics:

Author	The Relevancy Match %
Title	The Star Rating
ISBN	The Readability Rating
The Unique StoryCode ID	The Recommended Age

This data can be integrated into your site at your discretion

Why Should I Want This?

All retailers acknowledge the power of recommendations in driving sales, especially incremental sales. StoryCode Web Services allows you tap into an independent source of recommendations based on the collective passion of our users.

Most online sites use some form of collaborative filtering of product purchases to offer product recommendations. This has some inherent flaws where purchase patterns are distorted by external influences, for example a school or college reading list may stimulate the purchase of a range of literature, from Shakespeare to modern authors. That they were purchased together influences the resulting product recommendations for those titles, but without any reference to the content.

StoryCode Recommendations go beyond this and are based on a detailed analysis of the content of the stories, as coded by our users, people who have actually read the novel, not just bought it. In addition, we collect “meta data” about each novel including a Star Rating, a Readability Rating and a Recommended Age.

How Much Does The Service Cost?

The cost of the service is dependent on the volume of queries we receive from your site. The busier your site and the more times our data is displayed, the larger the annual subscription.

If your query volume changes during your subscription we will charge you at the higher rate, pro rat for the remaining period of your subscription.

Each subscription runs for twelve months. The current payment tiers are:

Introductory	$500 This allows up to 1,000 queries per month, 12,000 per year. Approx 2 cents per query
General	$1000 This allows up to 2,500 queries per month. 30,000 per year. Approx 1.7 cents per query
Power	$2000 This allows up to 10,000 queries per month, 120,000 per year. Approx cost of 0.8 cents per query

You will have access to your personalised “My Account” Page giving information on your subscription status and access to your coded Manuscript reports.

StoryCode EPOS Service

This service allows booksellers to receive regular updates of the StoryCode database of content regarding the top matches for a particular story. The data can be integrated into your EPOS system to provide links to your purchase process, for example to use as product recommendations on till receipts or for instore use by your customers and staff.
